Job Opportunity : Employment Support Team have a 30hr vacancy for a Care Assistant

The Employment Support Team offer a range of employability services to people with mental health difficulties, acquired brain injury, autistic spectrum diagnosis or learning disabilities from localities throughout Perth and Kinross. The Team use a person centred approach to help people prepare for, find, access and maintain work by the following means; While in work, ongoing support is offered to individuals and employers in the form of advice, reviewing and monitoring. The Team works in partnership with other professionals in an advisory role relating to supported employment issues and also Employability Network members and Employers to breakdown barriers of stigma and discrimination; this helps widen the local job market for people who face additional challenges.

Driving is essential to be able to carry out your role across all localities in Perth & Kinross.

No entry requirement however will be required to work towards achieving an SVQ level 2 in Social Services & Healthcare / Health and Social Care, PDA in Supported Employment, or equivalent within agreed timeframe. This is an interesting supported employment role which covers a wide variety of activities and we are looking for someone who has a genuine interest and commitment to supported employment and the ability to support adults with barriers such as learning disability, severe and enduring mental health, and autism into paid employment.

As an supported employment care assistant you will be working with clients and employers in the workplace, as such you will require effective communication and engagement skills and have the ability to build effective relationships. You will also support individuals and employers with health and safety matters including risk management.You will support and encourage individuals to undertake all aspects of employment and community engagement; this will include regular in work job support / independent travel and working in partnership with other agencies. Ability to demonstrate a sense of urgency and take action quickly in response to incidents as they occur. You will be adaptable to change with a flexible approach to day to day tasks and working locations. Ability to communicate effectively with team members and individuals and provide clear and timely information as required. You will also have the ability to contribute to case working with individuals, facilitating ongoing supported employment including a review and assessment role, leading to the provision of supported employment and meeting paid employment outcomes for individuals.
